Call to Worship: Psalm 85                                          John Stoltzfus

Leader:   Surely salvation is at hand

for those who fear you.

All:        Restore us again, O God of our salvation

and put away your indignation toward us.

Leader:   Let us hear what you will speak,

All:         for you will speak peace to the people,

to those who turn to you in their hearts.

Leader:   Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;

righteousness and peace will kiss each other.

All:        Faithfulness will spring up from the ground,

and righteousness will look down from the sky.

First Sunday of Advent

Announcements

·         Today is the seventh in our series on the Beatitudes. In two weeks, Hailu Cherenet will be closing our series with “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake…”

·         Next Sunday (Nov 15) is an important one in the life of our congregation as we work towards healing. We’ll have a full day of activities with Robert Yutzy and Kirsten Zerger of KIPCOR. Please plan now to participate. For the potluck that day, households A-M please bring a salad/dessert and N-Z a main dish.

·         We will need help with childcare during next Sunday’s afternoon session with KIPCOR. A marathon session for the adults means a very long day for our children as well. Parents, please sign up to work a one-hour shift on the poster downstairs.

·         There are heroes among us. Faster than a speeding bullet (at nailing down roof shingles), more powerful than a locomotive (at tearing off two sets of old roof shingles in a single day) and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound (with the help of a ladder). We give a thunderous thank you to all who helped replace the roof on Todd’s home. See the poster in the foyer for shots of our heroes in action.

·         Did you know that baked goods have no calories when they’re supporting a good cause? The Venture Club will be selling Snacks for Stairs today in the Fellowship Hall, to raise money for lights on the stairs at Menno Haven.

·         The Ten Thousand Villages Rug and Craft Sale at the Ewerts is fast approaching. This Saturday (Nov 14), we need help cleaning and unpacking sale merchandize from 9 AM on. During the sale, we’ll need help monitoring merchandize, bagging, flipping rugs, you name it. We also need people to bring food for the workers. Please contact Jane Halteman to sign up.

·         A big thank you to all who brought items and volunteered their time at our PADS hosting effort on October 25. We fed around 70 people!–Stephanie, Mona, Peggy and Susanne
